Roman history

Dating back over two thousand years, the Roman blind had very humble beginnings. Originally a dampened cloth hung across windows to prevent dust from the street and mess from external stone carving from entering the house.

This style of blind has come a long way, yet the operation of the lifting mechanism has changed little in principal; still rising in horizontal folds by means of a cord.

Today, the Roman blind is one of the most elegant forms of fabric window treatment available.
